My Alaskan Backyard Moose
My Alaskan Backyard Moose comes around on a regular basis, resting on the river ice, trimming the brush and my one apple tree, have done it for years. Resting on the river ice this afternoon, regurgitating what it has been eating this morning, acutely aware of its surroundings of the inner city in Anchorage Alaska, we can see how it is responding to the local dogs in the neighborhood and the raven that is making its presence known.
The continual small airplane traffic to and from our local airport and the helicopter flying overhead. Its responding more attentively to new sounds, none threatening sounds of life in the inner-city. We are mostly immune to the sounds of the inner-city as the soundscape is ever precent. The same with the moose, it knows when danger is afoot, and when all is normal, so to speak.
The magpie is getting the attention of the dog down the street and the moose is not bothered, it’s a quiet afternoon in Anchorage Alaska. Our wildlife is part of our local environment, and we their, they listen to the noise we make, a great deal of noise in our daily day to day life. We have not learned to listen well, like the moose localizing where the sound is originating and responding accordingly. Its making its own sounds too, we can hear its breath, regurgitating and continuing chewing.
All is well in the backyard, life goes on, the moose have beaded down for a few hours, resting, life is safe in our backyard, winter is soon over and spring should arrive soon.
